Millwall - Company Updates - September 2016
Millwall Football Club has announced that Chief Executive Officer Andy Ambler will be leaving the club to take up a prestigious new position with the Football Association.
Andy is approaching his tenth anniversary at The Den, working closely with chairman John Berylson for much of that period whilst sitting on the club’s board of directors.
John said: “Whilst it will naturally be a blow to lose Andy, it is no surprise that the FA have chosen him to take on this important new role.
He has been invaluable to me personally and to the board over these past ten years, and under his guidance Millwall Football Club has enjoyed significant success both on and off the pitch. His will be some very big shoes to fill, but we already have a first class replacement lined up, who I am confident will build on all the good work Andy has done.
On behalf of everyone connected with Millwall I would like to thank Andy for his efforts and wish him all the very best for the future. I sincerely hope we see him back at The Den from time to time in the future.”
Andy added: “Firstly, I would like to thank John, the other directors and all the staff at Millwall for all the help and support they have given me during the last decade.
I have enjoyed my time at Millwall immensely, and wish everyone at the club and the fans every success going forward.
Over the next few weeks I will be working tirelessly to ensure that the transition period leading to the arrival of my successor is a smooth one. The club is in a very healthy state with an excellent chairman who remains as dedicated and committed as ever. Under the management of Neil Harris, his exciting young squad has the potential to return Millwall to the Championship in the foreseeable future, and I will continue to follow their fortunes with great interest.
In terms of my new position with the FA, it is one I am excited about, and I am very much looking forward to the new challenge.”
An announcement regarding the appointment of Millwall’s new CEO will be made shortly.
